Molly Aunty Rocks, directed by Ranjith Sankar is a good family entertainer. The film may not have big heroism, camera gimmicks still Molly Aunty Rockz can be termed as a good entertainer. A small story, a good execution, good performances and a socially relevant message will make Molly Aunty a good movie. Whether Molly Aunty Really Rockz? Let’s see!!
Ranjith Sankar who given Passanger, and Arjunan Sakshi, yet again continued his trade mark style, and able to execute a pretty straight forward movie a watchable flick. Little comedies, some good dialogues and even performances will make Molly Aunty Rockz a good watch… The films both good and bad is its story and screenplay. Many times the script really entertain the audience, in the same time many places we feel it lacks some pace . Another good reason is that the film has a good bunch of characters which has been performed by good actors.
Coming to the story, the film has Molly Aunty (Revathy) who works as a bank employee after leaving her US life behind. She decides to go back to US with her family. However as a tax defaulter Molly Aunty did not able to get her Visa as expected. The film tells the problems she faced because of that. Later shee meets assistant commissioner of income tax department , Pranav (Prithviraj) . The film show cases their ego clash, and her husband Benny (Lalu Alex) and Lawyer Salim (Mamukoya) joins the fight.
Ranjith Sankar’s treatment of the film helped the movie to overcome some loop holes in the script, and his sensable comedies and dialogues too helped the film to get audience attention. BGM and songs from Anand Madhusoodhanan suits the mood and same goes for the editing by Lijo Paul and cinematography by Sujith Vasudev.
The casting of the film too helped the movie big time, from Revathy to even talented but lesser known actors like Shareth , Rajesh Hebbar casting was perfect. Entire cast came up with a spirited performance. However it is Revathy who steals the show, with a meaty role in her hand she given one of her best performance. Prithviraj as an egoist guy too come up with a spirited performance in small but a relevant role. Then we have Mamukoya who got one of the best role of his recent career, he did evoke the much-needed laugh in the second half. Lalu alex too join Mamookoya in his extended cameo. Shareth , Rajesh Hebbar can be proud to be a part of this venture , and this may get them more meaty roles in the future. KPAC Lalitha too bring some smile in our face. Rest of the cast Lakshmi Priya, Shivaji Guruvayoor, Sunil Sukhada too put up a good job.
The films first half went good, however more pacy treatment could have been made wonders to this script. In the second half the chemistry between Revathy and Prithviraj proved to be pivotal, however intermediate dragging in the process often seems that second half to be back fired, however a big thanks to Mamukoya who gave some of the good moments in the movie. Movie often has some good dialogues and jokes which goes against our social systems. Climax proved to be good but predictable and looks like Ranjith Sankar wanted to justify the lead actors desperately. Post climax scenes could have been trimmed more.

Molly aunty rocked. This film is one of the best family entertainers after the years super hit ‘ordinary’, void of vulgur jokes and unnecessary dialogues or heroism. The direction is very good. The first half could have been better. But second half covers it. I did not feel bored even for a minute. Definitely watchable with your family and children
